Hey Oles!
I’m not sure if you’ve heard, but on October 12 – 14, the 7th annual Minnesota OUT! Campus Conference (MOCC) will be occurring HERE(!!) and we would love to see you there! This year’s theme is Creating Cohesive Communities: Sharing Perspectives & Celebrating Diversity. We are aiming to implore attendees to consider the viewpoints and processes of other students and campuses, while contemplating how best to implement effective strategies in their own unique environments. MOCC is a conference for all students, staff, faculty, and alumni from around the state of Minnesota as well as the surrounding region to discuss issues facing gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and ally (GLBTA) communities on college/university campuses, and in the greater community. Attendees will have an opportunity to network and meet one another; talk about issues and topics that are being faced on and off campuses; and be challenged to learn valuable skills around building coalitions, fostering activism, and developing leadership through a lens of social justice.
We really want this to be a community event. We need hosts, volunteers, presenters, and of course participants! This conference is free for students, and I promise you that you will have a good time. We have keynote speakers coming, including miss Natalie Clark (formerly Klueg) who spoke during Pride Week last year, and is hilarious! The entertainment is going to be excellent. Friday is Let There Be Light, led by our very own Tucker Moore, and Saturday you will be graced with familiar faces we all love (you’ll get the announcement once it’s official). Plus, there will be a photobooth.
This is such a wonderful opportunity for us as a campus and organization, so I urge all of you to participate!
